Food wastage is a huge issue in the world in this 21st century and it is up to individual to do their part. Healthy eating is also equally important at the same time. Therefore as a designer, i would like to implement alternative towards the daily usage of cooking oil.
There are a lot of one off oil spray products out in the market and not of them are refillable. Not only they are not refillable, they are also very harmful to the environment due to their aerosol inflammable cans.
The Wonder Cap
To have a design that is simple and doable, the cap of the refillable bottle system should be easy for manufacturing. The design has to also be simple enough for the users to operate the system.
During the Research i manage to come across some very simple product that could enable a one time squirt action. One of the item is tomato ketchup bottle where the bottle cap is made out of soft silicon membrane.
Other than getting inspired from the soft silicon membrane, the design of the cap system also has another usage: Refilling funnel. When the cap is flipped, the viscous oil would slide down through the funnel like cap and stored into the bottle.
The States of Usage
01 Refilled State
The bottle is filled to the brim and is ready for usage. The sub-components are assembled together with the cap tighten into the bottle.
02 Daily Usage State
Upon cooking, users can squeeze the bottle and the oil would be forced though the silicon membrane. Every squeeze makes the usage of oil controllable. And therefore lessen the possibility of a spill.
03 Empty State
When the bottle is empty, the user would need to remove the cap all together and remove the top membrane sub piece from the whole cap by just twisting it out. The cap could be then flip and place on the top of the bottle.
04 Refilling State
Acting as a funnel, the cap could be then poured with the oil from the oil barrel and refill the bottle to its fullest.
